I'm looking for a birthday present for my sister and I need some help.
I'm trying to find her some "angry chick music" but I can't find
anything I think she would like. Some of her favourite singers/bands
are Ani DiFranco, Melissa Etheridge, The Murmurs, Joan Jett, Pink,
Avril Lavigne, Ghost Of The Robot, Common Rotation, and Creedence
Clearwater Revival. So, I'm trying to find something that fits into all
that but I'm having trouble. I'm also trying to find songs that don't
have any inappropriate sexual references as that might embarrass my sis
when the parents are listening, but cursing is ok, lol.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Seeing CCR in there, she's shown a taste for old classic rock. How
about Janis Joplin?

You've mentioned a rather eclectic mix of artists. Pat Benatar has
some good "angry chick" songs.

What about PJ Harvey -Dry-
Liz Phair - Whip-Smart (your parents will freak at Exile
in Guy-Ville so better avoid that!)
Beth Hart is also good but maybe a bit main-stream

"Where the hell is the feminist movement today? I looked through some
feminist books at the library, and almost every one of them bitched
about male patriarchy. Oppression this and equal rights that. BORING.
Where's the violence? Nobody wants to read about a single mom trying
to raise a kid and keep a job. People want to read about explosions,
monsters, and exploding monsters." Some usenet kook.
take out the bitch to email me.

If she doesn't have Ani's new album, "Knuckle Down", it's much better
than the last one (Educated Guess). Melissa Ferrick rocks - the live
album is highly recommended (Skinner, Faster, Live at the BC). Older
Indigo Girls 1200 Curfews, also a live album that rocks. Others: Nicole
Torres, Beth Hart, Bif Naked, Fiona Apple, Garbage, Janis Joplin
(Greatest Hits), Jewel (This Way), Joan Osborne (Relish), Nelly
Furtado, No Doubt, Patty Griffin, Poe, Sneaker Pimps, Tracy Bonham...

This may be too late, but hope it helps anyway.
